Alien Forest by hekatoncheir Alien Forest by hekatoncheir
I have... so many other things to upload on here. It's not even funny. But this one, definitely needed to come first.

I did this about a month ago (though now looking back at it I want to work more on it). It was a concept I thought up for my own game idea. I wanted to create a habitat suitable for aliens. And I wanted to capture the way light hits the seafloor.

Edit: Needed to state the sources/references used-- various photographs via google, picasa, and flickr for kelp forests & deep underwater lighting. (Example: [link]) :) Which by the way you guys should check out.

Very cool. It feels foresty yet has something of an underground feel too. I absolutely love it.

thank you! Colours for this one took a really long time, and this was also the second draft of it. Just gotta keep hammering at it. ;)

I don't do backgrounds/landscapes as much as I should, but from the ones I have done, I can agree it can be pretty time consuming. I don't have the patience for it, but I wish I did - because daaaaamn, it pays off. I honestly really do love this. If you do another draft, I'd love to see it!

Despite the composition being off(I might be wrong since I don't know which eye-level you were intending with this), this is very organic. You choice in lighting and colors work really well with the environment you used here.
